matcha + vanilla protein smoothie bowl
Mixing matcha powder together with my vanilla protein powder has been the biggest game changer this year.
If you remember my previous post about my daily protein shake, I typically use the chocolate UltraMeal Advanced Protein powder. I was never a fan of the French vanilla formula but my mom loves it, so naturally she has multiple tubs of it in her house. I stayed over one weekend and realized that there wasn't a single container of the chocolate powder anywhere. Luckily, I keep a stash of matcha powder everywhere, and it saved the day! (Don't get me wrong, the vanilla powder is perfectly fine. I just don't like anything vanilla-flavored so I try to doctor it up whenever possible).
This isn't so much a shake as it is a smoothie bowl because this one replaces the chia seeds with half an avocado, which makes it extra creamy. If you feel like you need the chia seeds to keep you regular, feel free to add it!
I've also started adding two new things to my shakes/bowls every now and then:
ReHydration by Energetix
These drops consist of a homeopathic combination formula for the symptoms associated with fluid imbalances. I use this for times when I feel like my body needs extra hydration - especially after a heavy night out.
PC Liquid by BodyBio
This is a phosphatidylcholine product similar to the GPC liquid I normally use. What's the difference? GPC is more geared towards improving cognitive function while the BodyBio PC is great for overall cellular health. Plus, it adds a bit of a sweetness to your drinks.
I topped the bowl off with bananas and nuts because I've feeling a bit dry lately with all these heaters around me on full blast. You can also use unsweetened coconut flakes or shaved dark chocolate for an extra kick of flavor.
